“A place in time”-Exhibition placed in the ancient Library of the Monastery
Free entrance for the Jerónimos Monastery visitors

“A place in time”
- taking into account the cultural diversity and age differences of the monument’s approximately 500,000 annual visitors, we have decided to produce a permanent, dual-language documentary exhibition to be housed in what was once the Friar’s Library, designed to provide a simple, visually attractive history of the monument’s five hundred years of existence and its context within Portuguese and world history

A multidisciplinary team comprising historians, designers and journalists has compiled and organised a timeline comprising an enormous collection of information and images which not only show the alterations made to Jerónimos Monastery since its construction but also the most important events herein occurring or which have altered its use and day-to-day life.
